Mood Board -

This is the mood board I created to capture the theme I want to achieve with my magazine. I have taken inspiration from other magazines of the same theme in the market. I have included some of these magazines in the top left of the screen. I am going for a modern/retro-modern style with the magazine, which is reflected in my font choices. The images I have used also reflect the stylish imagery style that I want to achieve in my magazine.

I am going for a red and blue colour scheme. I think this will work extremely well as these colours are often associated with racing and motorsport, as they are 'redline' style colours. They are also very complimentary of each other, and work extremely well together. This colour scheme will also stand out more than other magazines that use a white or black colour scheme, as they have much lower levels of contrast, which is less likely to attract an audience. This means my magazine will stand out positively compared to others.

Masthead/Logo -

This is my masthead, which is also my magazine logo. This is a common convention among magazine companies, as they usually have their logo as their masthead. I am happy with how this logo looks, as I think it is both interesting to look at and conveys the motoring theme extremely well with the addition of a speedometer on the end of the graphic.

Compared to the Car Magazine logo, which is the magazine I am taking the most inspiration from, I think that my logo is a lot more interesting, but not quite as modern. The font used on this logo is very modern, however, it is not very interesting at all, and other than the name there is nothing to show that this logo is liked to anything car or motorsport related.

Sample Photos -

These photos that I have compiled above are the style of photography that I want to include in my magazine. Throughout the photos you can see that the cars are very central in frame, and often they are surrounded by natural environments. This makes the photos prettier and more visually pleasing, as it creates a good background around the vehicles.
The photos are almost completely unedited, and have very natural colours. I plan to use this style as unedited photos look much better in magazines than heavily edited or even slightly edited images. This is because the photos look professional, and the magazine revolves around the natural looks of the cars, which makes no editing very suitable.

My Shots -

These are some of the photos I have taken as a sample test. These photos convey a very similar style, and I could definitely use these in my magazine, as they fit the theme very nicely. The photos I have are mostly of classic cars, so before I create my magazine I will need to compile a series of similar photos of more modern cars, preferably brand new cars that I can talk about, and create reviews for in order to interest readers.
These photos are also very good quality, which is good as on a large A4 printed magazine, the quality of the images will be extremely important. This means that the magazine will look more professional, which will make it more attractive to an audience.
The cars are also in the centre of the frame in all of the shots I have taken here. This is good as it makes the car the subject, which is more obvious to a reader, and makes sure that their attention is on the car in the image, and nothing else. This is essential as it means that the readers can associate the content directly with the subject of the image, which means it makes complete sense and follows continuity.
